The inaugural Disabled British Open Golf Championship took place at Old Thorns Golf & Country Club in August 2009 - the largest and most inclusive golf competition in the country for disabled golfers. Azalea is now busy making preparations for the second Disabled British Open, taking place at East Sussex National Golf Resort & Spa, September 21st & 22nd.
The event, which is an Accentuate Project, is the only event in the country open to all disabilities, including amputee, special needs, blind and wheelchair-bound golfers, and is broadcast on Sky Sports as part of its golf coverage.
The Azalea Group created the inaugural event and oversaw all daily running aspects of the tournament.
This included designing and creating a new event logo and brand image, designing artwork and marketing materials and setting up a dedicated website to provide clear and essential information about the event.

The Azalea Group also handled all player recruitment, facility bookings, and media relations, this activity supported by a comprehensive marketing and public relations campaign.
The event provides disabled golfers with a first-class annual tournament and assists in raising the profile of golf for people with disabilities.
